Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), such as a co-op term, is an excellent opportunity to build skills, gain experience, and make connections that can help launch your career!

Co-op provides students with real-world experience to strengthen employability skills, gain mentorship, and make informed career decisions. These positions are typically full-time and paid, running during the spring term (May to August).

Participating students receive support to prepare, apply and compete for job opportunities. NorQuest partners with Edmonton employers to offer relevant opportunities for our co-op students to develop skills, confidence, connections and open further networking and job prospects!

Students in the following programs will have the option to participate in a 4-month Co-op Experience after their first or second year of studies:

  • Business Administration
  • Energy Management
  • Environmental Technician

To learn more about our Co-op Experience course and demonstrate your interest, attend one of our Information Sessions in September 2025, and then complete an Expression of Interest Form by October 8, 2025!

"Landing a co-op takes focus and persistence. Preparing a tailored resume and cover letter is key, and while the Career Centre’s support was invaluable, success came from hard work and perseverance. My mantra, “It isn’t over until it’s over,” kept me going through rejections.

I was hired by Women Building Futures for my first office job, where I took on both accounting and administrative duties. It was a fun, valuable, and unforgettable experience, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity.”

-- Gemma Cabildo, 2025 Business Administration Co-op Student

"My Co-op allowed me gain valuable hands-on learning experience and the chance to apply the knowledge I gained in the Environmental Technician program. I had the opportunity to lead a project, which strengthened my leadership and adaptability skills. This experience not only helped me grow as a student but also gave me a strong sense of direction for my future career."

-- Izabella Dumont, 2025 Environmental Technician Co-op Student

“Before starting my co-op with Green Sky Sustainability, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had studied sustainability frameworks and policies in class but applying them in the workplace was a new experience. This was my first formal work opportunity, and I feel fortunate it happened at Green Sky Sustainability. Sitting in on client meetings and working alongside professionals confirmed my passion for sustainability consulting and clarified the career path I want to pursue.

To any student considering a co-op; it’s worth it. It’s more than a resume boost, it’s a chance to grow, gain confidence, and see how your learning connects to the real world. Thank you to NorQuest and the WIL Co-op program for making this possible.”

-- Pauline Owino, 2025 Energy Management Co-op Student
