Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) such as a co-op work term is a wonderful way to gain skills, experience and connections to help launch your career!
Co-op gives students practical real-world work experience to build their employability skills, receive mentorship and help them make decisions about their career path. Co-op jobs are typically full-time paid positions during the spring term (May to August).
Participating students receive support to prepare, apply and compete for job opportunities. NorQuest partners with Edmonton employers to offer relevant opportunities for our co-op students to build their skills, confidence and connections and open up further networking and job prospects!
Students in the following programs will have the option to participate in a 4-month Co-op Experience after their first or second year of studies:
To learn more about our Co-op Experience course and demonstrate your interest, attend one of our Information Sessions in September 2024, and then complete an Expression of Interest Form by October 1, 2024!
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to apply my Business Administration studies practically through a Work-Integrated Learning experience at Goodwill Industries of Alberta. This co-op allows me to be creative, think critically, explore various facets of HR, and connect with inspiring professionals in an inclusive workplace, while also making a meaningful difference in people's lives."
-- Rosvina Alviola, 2024 Business Administration Co-op Student
"During my co-op work term with Kambo Energy, I had the privilege of working with an amazing team to support their Empower Me program across Alberta. I engaged with diverse communities at events and festivals, and saw a positive response to my presentations and workshops, making a tangible impact on energy usage and safety. Work-integrated learning gave me the opportunity to refine my skills in critical thinking and leadership through planning and executing workshops tailored to community needs and mentoring new employees. I was even given the opportunity to take charge of an event at NorQuest College! This experience reinforced my interest in sustainable energy and community outreach. These insights will guide my approach to future roles in the energy sector."
-- Tarandeep Singh, 2024 Energy Management Co-op Student
“I am forever grateful for my experience working as a co-op student at Boyle Street Community Services. It has been an amazing experience for me. The people I worked alongside, the accounting and software knowledge I gained, and even the Indigenous teachings I was blessed with, have made these past four months life changing. The knowledge gained during my experience has forever changed my perspective. I could not have done any of this without all the support and new opportunities given to me by NorQuest.”
-- Janelle Jackson, 2024 Business Administration Co-op Student
