Paraphrasing example
The reference number is treated as a noun in the sentence (in square brackets) and reference ranges need to be written out (no dash).
Narrative citation
[11] argues strongly in favor of this method. The theory is supported by [3], [7], [8], [9].
Parenthetical citation
This method is the standard approach [11].
Direct quote example
Include the page number in the brackets of the reference number for quotes in your text.
It is reported that "numbers will increase” [3, p. 57].
