Yankauer suction catheter

A stiff, molded tool with a rounded end that is placed in the mouth during suctioning to remove secretions. The Yankauer suction catheter can be used more than once on the same client, but a new, sterile one must be used for a different client. SCAE 1000 Unit E2

Zero Lift Policy

A policy stating that HCAs are not to try to transfer clients by lifting them; a mechanical lift must be used. The 'Zero Lift Policy' is designed to reduce injury to HCAs due to muscle strain from lifting clients. BCND 1000 Unit D2
