What is Library Pick Up?

  • Library Pick Up is a service that allows NorQuest students and staff to place holds online and pick them up from campus. When your holds are ready, you will be prompted to email the library. A library staff member will respond with important information about your holds and the Library Pick Up service.

    Your holds will be set aside for 10 days and they will be available for pick up the day after they are placed.

     

Who Can Use This Service?

  • NorQuest students and staff
    • If you live outside the Greater Edmonton Area or if coming to campus during pick up hours is not possible, contact the library at library@norquest.ca to learn how you can receive your books by mail.
    • If you are unable to come to campus due to illness, self-isolation, or other circumstances, you may send somebody to pick up on your behalf. Please note that we require advanced notice. The person picking up on your behalf must show picture ID and state your student ID number. 

When is this service offered?

  • Monday – Thursday
  • 8:30am – 4:00pm
  • Any changes to these hours will be communicated when you email the library.

Where do I go and what do I do?

  • Enter through the doors at Imagine Hall. 
  • Tell the security staff by the door your reason for visiting campus and answer their questions. You may be asked to show picture ID. If you have a student ID card, you can scan in at the security desk by the door. 
  • Go up the stairs and turn to the left to get to Singhmar Centre for Learning. Next, go to the second floor and find the Learner Centre. 
  • Call (780) 644-6070 or text (587) 600-0084 when you are at the door. 
  • A library staff member will come out to help you and you will be asked to show picture ID and state your student or staff ID number.
    • You can use your ID card as picture ID, but it is not required to check out your items. 
  • We will check your materials out to your account while you wait outside the doors and then pass them back to you. 
  • Once you have your holds, please leave the building unless you have a seat booked in the Learner Centre or unless you have a class or lab to attend on campus. 

What Safety Precautions are in Place? 

  • Face masks must be worn by everyone on campus. Please bring your own mask.
  • Returned items are quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours.
  • Staff perform proper hand hygiene and wear gloves when appropriate.
  • Staff and students will maintain a safe distance from each other.

How Many Items Can Be Requested?

  • There is no limit, but we encourage staff and students to request no more than 15 items at a time.

How Do I Place a Hold?

  • Search for the item you would like using OneSearch
  • When you see the item you would like, click "Place Hold"
  • A new screen will open. Click "Place Hold" again
  • Enter your 13-digit barcode number and PIN

  • Select NorQuest College Library as your pick up location 
  • Click "Place Hold"
    • Need help placing a hold? Email us at library@norquest.ca

Preparing to Pick Up 

  • Bring a face mask to wear on campus. All students, staff, and visitors must wear a face mask on campus. 
  • Be sure you feel well before using this service. If you feel ill or you have been exposed to somebody who is ill, please do not come to campus. 

Coming to Campus

  • Arrive between 8:30am and 4:00pm, Monday - Thursday. 
  • Have your picture ID ready and be ready to tell us your student or staff ID number. 
    • If you do not know this information, please email the library before you come to campus.
  • You do not need to have your student ID card. However, if you do have a student or staff ID card, this may be used as picture ID. 
  • Please help keep NorQuest staff and students safe by standing at least 2 meters (6 feet) from others while on campus and returning items to the book drop. Please do not hand returns to staff.

Items Excluded from Library Pick Up

  • Reserve materials, including textbooks and equipment such as cell phone chargers and whiteboard markers
  • Library-use only items

Due Dates

  • When you pick up your items, you will receive a receipt with your due dates
  • To check your due dates online, please log in to your NEOS Account

 

Please note that if you make use of this service your personal information will be collected under the authority of section 33(c) of Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of (FOIP) Privacy Act and is managed in accordance with the Act.  The information is collected as a requirement of the Public Health Authority and will be used for contact tracing, if necessary.
