Peer Technology Mentoring

The Peer Technology Mentors help students at NorQuest navigate educational technology.

What is a Peer Technology Mentor?

Peer Technology Mentors are NorQuest College students who are passionate about helping other students use technology effectively. They help students at NorQuest navigate educational technology, including misiwe pehtâkwan (formerly known as Moodle), MyQuest, and Microsoft Office products such as MyMail, Word, and PowerPoint.

Why Become a Peer Technology Mentor?

There are many benefits to becoming a Peer Technology Mentor! Participating in this program allows you to demonstrate your ability to teach and communicate complex concepts effectively, which is a great addition to your resume. Additionally, it showcases your proficiency with technology, making you a strong candidate for tech-related roles. Beyond these professional advantages, mentoring also helps you reinforce your own knowledge and build confidence in your skills.

Upon completing the program, it will be added to your SOAR record, and the Digital Literacy Librarian will serve as a reference for your future job applications. This further enhances your professional profile and provides a credible endorsement of your abilities.

What is required of Peer Technology Mentors?

Peer Technology Mentors are expected to commit to 4 hours per week (2 shifts, 2 hours each) until the end of the term (approx. 15 weeks in total, excluding Reading Week).

As NorQuest College students, your studies are your first priority. Peer Technology Mentors are responsible for ensuring that scheduled shifts do not conflict with attending classes or exams.
