Requirements

All NorQuest courses must adhere to the following:

Citation Styles

NorQuest course work is completed in APA or MLA Citation Styles. Other formatting and referencing styles are not supported by NorQuest.

Following citation styles is an essential component of academic work and it is imperative that assignments are submitted in adherence to one of these citation styles.

It benefits students who learn how to give credit where credit is due in a professional and consistent manner. Instructors also benefit from consistency as citation styles allow for clear and consistent traceability of ideas, facts, and any other information used in coursework.

Please refer your students to these guides or to the Librarians for citation support.

Online Style Guides

NorQuest Library has created online guides that contain information on the citation styles related to the following:  general, document formatting, in-text citations, references, assignments and samples, how to videos and tools, how to research and resources for writers.

APA is used in various disciplines and professions, whereas MLA is used in the English (humanities) courses. MLA is a requirement for ENGL courses to be transferable to other post-secondary institutions.

At NorQuest, when ENGL is taught as part of a health program (for example, Practical Nurse), the ENGL course subscribes to APA to support the style that the Practical Nurse profession will be using in their field.
