NorQuest Library LSP Transition

This site keeps the NorQuest community updated on the Library Services Platform migration.

NorQuest College Library is Migrating into a New System!

NorQuest College Library is excited to announce that we will be moving from SirsiDynix Symphony to Alma, and from EBSCO Discovery Service (AKA OneSearch) to Primo VE, both from Clarivate.

Why this change?

We have been in our current library system for 10 years. The system itself, designed to handle print formats, is more than 20 years old. Our current catalogue was not designed to manage electronic resources which now make up most of our collections.

Meanwhile, library systems are evolving. Newer systems can better manage electronic resources and help their users more easily discover digital and print resources held in library collections. Alma/Primo, the library services platform (LSP) we have selected, is specifically designed to handle a variety of resources, promising a more integrated system, streamlined workflows, and an intuitive discovery interface.

What about NEOS?

The University of Alberta and all NEOS libraries will be moving out of the shared ILS and into their own library systems over the course of the coming year. Our NEOS partnership continues; however, borrowing from partner libraries may be impacted as individual NEOS libraries migrate out at different times. We are working with our NEOS partners to ensure service disruptions are minimized and will provide regular updates throughout this process. Please check for those updates under the Borrowing tab of this guide. Answers to frequently asked questions can be found under the Common Questions tab.
