Until spring 2025, NorQuest students and staff, NEOS clients, and community members are able to continue to borrow from the NorQuest Library collection as usual. Clients of NEOS libraries that have exited the shared system may continue to borrow materials from NorQuest library through an interlibrary loan request placed at their home library or by visiting the NorQuest Library in person to have a community account created.
In Spring 2025 there will be changes to borrowing activities for NEOS clients and community members. Initially there will be a pause to borrowing for these clients as we finalize the migration. After this pause, NEOS clients and community members can once again resume borrowing by visiting the Library and having us create a new library account for them or by placing an interlibrary loan with their home library.
Throughout the entire process NorQuest students and staff will be able to continue borrowing materials from the NorQuest library as usual.
As part of this change, each library within the NEOS library consortium will migrate into a separate system. The schedule for each library's migration will vary, but all libraries will be in a new system by March, 2026. During their migration, NEOS member libraries may temporarily pause lending or limit lending to only their clients. Once a library has left the shared system, their items will no longer appear in OneSearch (our library catalogue), but borrowing may continue through interlibrary loan requests.
In order to borrow from other libraries, students and staff may request an interlibrary loan OR visit the library that owns the item in person, set up an account at that library, and borrow directly from the owning library. In this case, the item has to be returned to the owning library. To learn more about NEOS borrowing, visit the NEOS website.
