Library Services for Faculty

Request a resource

The library is responsive to the teaching and learning needs of staff and students. Let us know what you would like added to the collection and we will explore purchasing and licensing options. We can:

  • purchase print materials and add them to the library collection
  • procure and license streaming videos and ebooks
  • investigate potential database and journal subscriptions

Selection Criteria

Books/ebooks and streaming video

Will be automatically purchased as long as they are under 5 years of age and reasonably priced for the product. If they are older or very expensive we will follow up with the requestor for additional information.

Databases and Journal Subscriptions

We only accept database and journal requests from NorQuest faculty and staff.

Subscriptions are long term commitments with ongoing costs, so we carefully review each request before making a decision. We consider:

  • Support for curriculum, student learning and research
  • For faculty resources: support for teaching, research and/or curricular development
  • Content distinctness: Review our databases page or look at the program resource guide for your area
  • Existing subscriptions on the same subject or serving the same learner group
  • Accessibility
  • Support for EDI and Indigenization
  • Cost

Please submit your subscription request at least one term prior to when it will be needed.

The liaison for your area and the Collections Team work together to review all subscription requests. The turnaround time to hear back about a request is approximately one month.

If you have any questions about the process, inquiries about your request, or would like help filling out this form, contact your liaison librarian.

Request an alternate format

We can investigate the possibility of offering resources in a different format. For example, you can request:

  • digitization of existing curriculum DVDs to an online format
  • printing a digital resource to add to the library's general or reserve collections

Format changes are subject to Canadian Copyright Law and may require approval from the licensor or copyright owner.

Submitting Requests

Your liaison librarian is available to discuss options.
