Icebreaker Questions

Not sure what to ask? Here are some ideas to get the conversation going:

  • What motivates you to share your personal history?
  • Why did you want to share your personal history with us?
  • What are the greatest challenges you have experienced related to your topic?
  • What are the most important things to know about you?
  • Was there one particular event that impacted you? 
  • What are some of the more positive/difficult aspects of your life? What makes them difficult?

Attending a Living Library Session

Living Library events will be held online using Microsoft Teams. If you have registered for a Living Library event, you will receive an email notification two hours before the event which includes the link to your session.

When you click the link to join the Microsoft Teams room, you will be prompted to choose between using the browser or the Teams app. If you are using a phone, you will need to download the Teams app.

Joining the Webinar

  1. We recommend allowing your browser to use your camera and microphone. Click Allow.

  2. Enter your name. Please enter the same name you used to register for the event.

  3. Click Join now.
     
  4. Wait – a Living Library organizer will let you in soon!

Participating in the Webinar

  • We recommend keeping your mic muted unless you are speaking. You can choose whether you would like to keep your camera on or off. These settings are in the top right of your screen.

  • If you have a question for the Storyteller that you would like to ask out loud, you can indicate that you would like to speak by clicking the Raise Hand button in the top centre of your screen. A Living Library staff member will call on you to speak - remember to unmute your mic!

  • If you have a question for the speaker, you can type your question into the Q&A in the top centre of your screen. If you have a question or a comment for the Living Library event staff or the other attendees, you can type into the chat.

Leaving the Webinar

When the webinar has ended, you can exit by clicking Leave in the top right of your screen.
