Information for Faculty

Did you know NorQuest College has a Makerspace? The Makerspace is a place to learn through exploration, innovation, and creation. At the Makerspace, NorQuest College students have free access to creative technology and training. See the complete list of equipment and activities in the Makerspace.

We are opening our doors on January 20th, 2025! Here are four ways you can support the Makerspace pilot for the Winter 2025 semester:

1. Use the Makerspace in your classes

Do you have a course that could benefit from access to 3D printers? A sewing machine? Robotics kits? Consider using the Makerspace! Contact the Digital Literacy Librarian for more information or to schedule a visit.

2. Promote the Makerspace to your students

Help us spread the word about our vibrant Makerspace! We're inviting faculty members to encourage their students to explore this creative hub. Consider mentioning the Makerspace in your classes and encouraging your students to participate in workshops and events.

3. Consider volunteering

Are you passionate about creativity? We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to make the Makerspace a success! By joining our team, you'll have the opportunity to support NorQuest students in their creative endeavors, share your skills, and be part of an inspiring environment.

Volunteer roles include:

  1. Offer a workshop or an event. Do you have a creative talent? Consider offering a workshop or event for NorQuest College students. Events can be scheduled at your convenience.
  2. Supervise the Makerspace. Can you help us keep our doors open? The Makerspace is only open to students when a NorQuest College employee is present to supervise. Consider joining our roster of talented volunteers to supervise the Makerspace on a weekly or biweekly basis; all training is provided!

Did you know? Volunteering at the Makerspace can count towards NorQuest College faculty members' service obligations. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the Digital Literacy Librarian.

4. Consider donating

We're seeking donations of creative technology and materials such as fabric, yarn, and other crafting supplies. Your generous contributions keeps the Makerspace free for our students. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference! Contact the Digital Literacy Librarian for more information.
