What are the key computer requirements?
- Only a laptop or desktop computer can be used (no Chromebooks*, tablets, or phones).
- Do not use a computer in public place, workplace, or library. Typically, these computers have security features that will prevent you from using ProctorU. NorQuest computers, including library loaned laptops, cannot be used.
- You cannot use: Linux operating systems, Windows 10 in S mode or Surface RT, and you may not run in a virtual machine.
- Test your computer in advance and on the day of your exam, prior to writing your exam. You should test your computer at the location where you will be writing your exam.
- You will find additional information about how to test your computer for requirements, below.
What programs/software are not allowed on my device?
- Any kind of remote access program, remote desktop access solutions, or remote desktop software needs to be uninstalled prior to taking your test. You will not be able to take your test if you have these types of programs installed on your device on your exam day.
- Programs can include, but not limited to:
- Anydesk
- Ultraviewer
- Teamviewer
- Tvnserver
Where do I go if I need help setting up my computer?
- When you are on any ProctorU page, select the Chat Bubble in the lower right corner to speak to ProctorU support.
- You can also contact ProctorU support team on any day or at any time via the ProctorU Support Page here.
- If you do not have a microphone, webcam, or your computer will not work with ProctorU for another reason such as unstable internet connection, let us know as soon as possible.
- Please make sure to give yourself time earlier that day or the day prior to test your computer to make sure everything is working prior to your exam. This will minimize stress on the exam day and help prevent technical issues during your exam.
