Find us in the Learner Centre (2nd floor of the Singhmar Centre for Learning at the downtown Edmonton campus). No appointment needed!

We can help you with:

  • Understanding course content
  • Writing skills
  • Grammar
  • Reading comprehension
  • Presentations
  • Staying organized and taking notes
  • Preparing for tests
  • And more!

Sign up using the kiosk (here's how)Sessions are 15-20 minutes long. If you need more help after seeing a tutor-coach, you can sign in again.

Help is available to individuals and small groups on a drop-in basis. If you and your friends have the same question, you can sign up together, and a tutor-coach will work with your group.


Please note that we cannot help with the following:

  • Applying for jobs - You can get employment assistance at Student Career and Employment Services.
  • Award applications - For help applying for awards, please book an appointment with the Scholarships & Awards Advisor in room A125 (Heritage Tower at the Downtown Edmonton Campus), or send your quick question to awards@norquest.ca.
  • Citations and referencing (MLA & APA) - You can make an appointment with the Writing Centre or drop in at the Library.
  • Take-home exams, unless your instructor has indicated in writing on your assignment instructions that you can use Tutorial and Academic Coaching Services.

The Writing Centre is a place where students can build their skills and become more confident, independent writers.

You can make a 30-minute appointment to meet with a writing tutor or librarian during our open hours (Monday to Saturday).

We can help you with:

  • Generating or clarifying ideas
  • Thesis statements
  • Organizing your essay
  • Grammar and sentence structure
  • Research
  • Citation, referencing, and formatting
  • Revision and editing
  • And more!

A tutor or librarian will meet you at our downtown campus or online. You will get immediate feedback on your writing draft, including elements like organization, thesis statements, introductions and conclusions, grammar, and citation.

Regional, online, distance, and evening students can book a 30-minute appointment online.

During your appointment, a tutor-coach will work with you using a program called Bridgit, where you can chat, speak to each other, and even share screens. We can help you with:

  • Study skills and memorization strategies
