NorQuest Library Basics

A guide to accessing and using library resources when off campus..

NorQuest students are able to access resources online with their library accounts.  Find answers below to some common questions about how to use your library account, and access resources.

The Core is the name of the NorQuest Student Bookstore.

To purchase your textbooks for your classes, you can order them online with The Core. 

You can choose to have your materials delivered to you or you can come to the Edmonton Downtown campus to pick up your order.

The cost of shipping will depend on the weight of the package.

EPL L-Pass Logo and Link

Your NorQuest Student ID can be your ticket to Edmonton Public Library (EPL) membership through the L-Pass. If you don’t have an EPL membership, you can get it now, by clicking on the L-Pass image above and completing the form.

If you already have an EPL membership you can still choose to use your NorQuest ID Card as your public library card, your accounts will be merged. EPL membership is a privilege of access that includes digital resources, books, music, audio books, programming and a multitude of services. Join today! Please note that if you are no longer a NorQuest student and you do not live in Edmonton, access to EPL resources may be limited to physical items only. If this is the case, contact your local public library for assistance on using their resources.

Library Material Access for Distance/Regional students

If you live outside the Greater Edmonton Area, you may request items to be mailed to you through Canada Post (return label included). Email the library to make your request.


Reserve materials (currently used textbooks) from the on-campus Reserve Collection cannot be mailed out to distance and regional students. However, a select number of textbooks used in Practical Nursing classes will be available for short-term loan for distance and regional students through the Distance Reserve Service is a pilot project. 

The Distance Reserve Pilot Project will end April 26, 2024. Current requests will be completed, but we are no longer accepting new requests for this service. 


Please also note:

  • If you would like to purchase a textbook, please contact The Core (the bookstore) at thecore@norquest.ca.
  • You can also use the textbook chapter request form to ask for a single chapter of your book to be sent to you via email. We cannot send an individual student more than one chapter of a requested item due to copyright laws and regulations.
  • There may be a copy of the material you need at NorQuest or another NEOS library that is available for a regular loan. This may be a prior edition of the book - check with your instructor to see whether using a past edition is okay. Please refer to the Library news for more information about accessing books online.
