How to Link to Audio Cine Films Videos

  1.  Do a search for the title you wish to link to in ACF.
  2. Copy the URL from the browser bar and paste it into Wordpad or Notepad
  3. Copy the library off-campus authentication prefix link https://auth01.norquest.ca/login?url=
  4. Paste the prefix link in front of the persistent link and copy the whole new link into your course or webpage.

How to Link to CanCore Academic Videos

Can-Core Can-Core is a core curriculum content platform created by McIntyre Media Inc. for use in Canadian schools. The content is 100% Canadian Produced and has been selected for its strong curriculum fit. You can even limit your search to Indigenous titles.
  1.  Do a search for the title you wish to link to in CanCore.
  2. Copy the URL from the Segment URL and paste it into Wordpad or Notepad
  3. Copy the library off-campus authentication prefix link https://auth01.norquest.ca/login?url=
  4. Paste the prefix link in front of the persistent link and copy the whole new link into your course or webpage.

How to Embed CanCore Academic Videos


  1.  Do a search for the title you wish to link to in CanCore.
  2. Next to Segment URL, click on Show Embed Code
  3. Copy the iframe code to clipboard
  4. Login to your Moodle course and click on the Turn editing on button in the Actions dropdown menu (gear icon) on top right corner.  
  5. In the section or unit where you wish to add the video, click on the +Add an activity or resource link.
  6. On the “Add an activity or resource” dialog box choose the radio button for either Page or Book, depending on your preference.
  7. When the new “Adding a Page” editing page opens:
    1. Fill in the “Name” box with the name of the video or whatever you wish to call the page.
    2. It is optional to add a Description, but you may want to provide instruction for your students on the purpose of the video.
    3. In the “Page content” section, click on the Show Advanced button and then click on HTML button.
  8. Paste the Embed Code from your selected CANCore video.
  9. Use the Save and Display button to see how the embedded video will look.

Note: If you are using the embed code from the "Link" box to embed a video on a website other than Moodle, you need to edit the url for the off-campus prefix in the embed code to change it to https:// at the beginning of the url.

How to Link to Curio Videos

Curio.ca Educational content from CBC and Radio-Canada. Titles are only searchable on the Curio.ca platform and are not available through the library catalogues. To view Close-Captioning it is recommended to use the Chrome browser.
  1. Access Curio.ca on the Audio & Video page located under the Find tab on the Library website.
  2. Browse or Search for the title you wish to link.
  3. On the video page for the title, click on the link underneath the Watch button labeled Share.
  4. The persistent link to the title is labeled "Permalink"
  5. Copy the url and paste it into your Moodle course.

NOTE: If copying the Embed code to use in Moodle, you will need to change the http in the URL to https for both the off-campus prefix and curio URL portions of the link. Contact the library if you need help with this. 

How to Link to Criterion-on-Demand Videos

Criterion on Demand logo A collection of online feature films from studios including 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Miramax, Dreamworks, Warner Bros. and Lionsgate. Microsoft Silverlight is required to view the films. Not available on tablets. Download the User guide (pdf) for more info.
  1.  Do a search for the title you wish to link to in Criterion-on-Demand.
  2. Copy the url from the address bar of the browser and paste it into Wordpad or Notepad
  3. Remove the /htbin/wwform/ section from the link and replace it with /display/
  4. Copy the library off-campus authentication prefix link https://auth01.norquest.ca/login?url=
  5. Paste the prefix link in front of the persistent link and copy the whole new link into your course or webpage.

How to Link to Films-on-Demand Videos

Films on Demand Master Academic Collection

Infobase’s Films On Demand is a comprehensive, curated streaming video subscription that provides every department on campus with unlimited access to thousands of essential videos for their field of study.

  1. Access Films on Demand on the Audio & Video page located under the Find tab on the Library website.
  2. Search for the title you wish to link.
  3. On the video page for the title, scroll to the bottom of the video and click on the button labeled "Link". 
  4. Copy the "Record url" link and paste it into your course or webpage.

  1. Access Films on Demand on the Audio & Video page located under the Find tab on the Library website.
  2. Browse the Subjects index from drop down hamburger menu located on the top left corner of the page.
  3. Select the subject from the Full Subject Index.
  4. Click on Page Link near top right of page and copy the url and paste it into your course or webpage.
  5. To find a series, choose More Filters option and select series in the full titles drop down. 
  6. On the page for the collection or series, click on the Page Link located directly under the title banner.
  7. Copy the url and paste it into your course or webpage.

Playlists can be created to share multiple videos with your students. 

  1. Access Films on Demand on the Audio & Video page located under the Find tab on the Library website.
  2. To create a playlist you must create an account with Films on Demand.
  3. Click on the Your Profile link in the top right corner of the Films on Demand home page.
  4. Login if you have an account or click on the Sign-up link and fill in the requested information.
  5. Search or browse for a title that you wish to add to a playlist
  6. On the video page for the title, click on the Add to link choose Playlist.
  7. Choose what you wish to add to the playlist: Add full title; Add all segments; or choose individual segments
  8. Type the name you wish to call the playlist in the Create a new playlist box (or choose an existing playlist if you have already created one).
  9. Click on the Create New Playlist button.
  10. A message will appear under the box that states "These items have been added".
  11. Continue to add any other titles you wish to the playlist
  12. To access your Playlist once you are finished adding titles, click on the My Profile icon link on the top right of the page and choose My Content from the dropdown menu.
  13. Click the drop down menu on the right hand side that corresponds to the Playlist of interest and select Share
  14. The Playlist URL is located in the Embed/Link Playlist section of the window that pops up
  15. Copy the whole new link into your course or webpage

NOTE: The Terms of Use for Playlists requires you to use the off-campus authentication prefix when sharing your playlist with students.

How to embed Films on Demand Videos in Moodle

Here are the steps to add a video:

  1. Access the Films on Demand platform and choose which video you wish to embed. Click on Share to and then Embed/Link of the video or segment of the video you wish to embed.
  2. Copy the Embed Code.
  3. Login to your Moodle course and click on the Turn editing on button in the Actions dropdown menu (gear icon) on top right corner.  
  4. In the section or unit where you wish to add the video, click on the +Add an activity or resource link.
  5. On the “Add an activity or resource” dialog box choose the radio button for either Page or Book, depending on your preference.
  6. When the new “Adding a Page” editing page opens:
    1. Fill in the “Name” box with the name of the video or whatever you wish to call the page.
    2. It is optional to add a Description, but you may want to provide instruction for your students on the purpose of the video.
    3. In the “Page content” section, click on the Show Advanced button and then click on HTML button.
  7. Paste the Embed Code from your selected FOD video.
  8. Use the Save and Display button to see how the embedded video will look.

Note: If you are using the embed code from the "Link" box to embed a video on a website other than Moodle, you need to edit the url for the off-campus prefix in the embed code to change it from http:// to https:// at the beginning of the url.

How to Link to Film Platform Videos

  1.  Do a search for the title you wish to link to in Film Platform.
  2. Click on title to view the streaming page.
  3. Copy the URL from the paperclip icon on the left, Share Film, and paste it into Moodle

How to Link to McIntyre Hosted Videos

McIntyre Media is Canada's Leading producer & distributor of educational content.

  1. Click on the McIntyre Hosted Videos link.
  2. Scroll down to Titles for this Playlist and select the title you want to link to.
  3. Copy the Unique URL link from the box below the video.
  4. Paste the link into your Moodle course.
