Student Guide to ProctorU

Please use this guide to prepare for your exams with ProctorU.

.

Book, reschedule, or cancel your exam appointment

  • You should book your exam as soon as you know your exam dates. It is your responsibility to book early enough to get an appointment. Appointments are first-come-first-serve. If there are no spots left within the exam writing date/window, please contact your instructor to apply for an exam deferral (a deferral is not guaranteed).

  • If you receive an error message stating that there are no more available slots, connect to ProctorU's live chat support team. You will be connected to an agent who will assist you.

  • You must book an appointment within the date/time window set by your instructor.
    • Note: if your instructor requests all students to write at the same time and provides an exact time/date to write, you can book your appointment within one hour of the start time of your exam. You will not be penalized or lose any time on your exam.
    • For example: your instructor has scheduled the exam from 8.00 AM - 10.00 AM (2 hours) on Friday. All students in your class must write the exam at this time/date. You go online to book your appointment with ProctorU. There are no 8:00 AM appointment spots available. However, you know you can book an appointment at anytime between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, so you choose an 8.45 AM appointment. On exam day, you start your exam at 8:45 AM and you complete your exam by 10:45 AM.

  • If you book to write your exam at a time when Testing Services is closed (including weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, winter break, etc.), ProctorU is your first point of contact for technical support. If you are having LMS issues that ProctorU cannot fix, you may try to contact NorQuest's Service Desk Team. In the rare case that no one can fix the problem, please email testing@norquest.ca and your instructor in one email to let us know what happened. We will get back to you as soon as we re-open.

Book your exam

  1. From your misiwe pehtâkwan (formerly Moodle) course page, select the link titled “ProctorU Booking: [Exam Title]”. This will generally be above or beneath your actual exam.
  2. Follow the steps in the Create Your Account section if you have never created a ProctorU account.

  1. Select 'Schedule New Session' from the main page.
  2. Select the date and time that you want to write your exam from the left, then find the available times.
  3. Select 'Schedule' when complete.

Reschedule or cancel your exam

  • The 'Active Exams' section in your account shows any exam appointments you have made in the past and future.
  • You can choose 'Reschedule' if you want to change the date of your appointment.
  • You can select 'Cancel' if you want to cancel your appointment.
