[Progress pride flag] (n.d.). Retrieved from https://progress.gay/

Taking place every year in June, Pride began as a protest against societal shame/hatred and targeted police violence against LGBTQ2 (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and 2 Spirit) communities. Pride Month is now marked as a celebration of the changes made on LGBTQ2 rights and equality through parades, festivals, drag performances, and other community events. While it is important to celebrate the progress made through decades of protest and political action, rising hostility toward LGBTQ2 people reminds us that we must continue fighting for the liberation of LGBTQ2 communities.
